Anything Goes (2006)This was a first-time show for Beverley with a story far too complicated to try to explain but with a whole raft (!) of songs by Cole Porter that most people would know. This particular show was tinged with sadness for many of the cast as they said farewell to one of their leading members. David Helliwell, who played Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, has been with Beverley since 1995 when he played the part of Oliver Warbucks in Annie and has taken lead roles in all the main shows since then. Fortunately for the Society we welcomed a new rising star in the form of Natalie Tidey (pictured right, in red) who took the part of Bonnie the ‘gangster’s moll’. It may not have drawn the biggest audiences but it certainly had the biggest set. It took the best part of a day to set up and was the whole of the front of the ship, together with raised decks at either side and pull out cabins.
